Bailey Jones mourned by friends, family after south coast knife incident
Family and friends have been left heartbroken after the teen died under tragic circumstances.
The family of an 18-year-old boy who died from what could have been a tragic knife accident say they will be “lost without him”.
Bailey Jones suffered a stab wound at about 7pm on Friday night at a gathering of close friends in the NSW south coast town of Bomaderry.
It is believed the teenager had been playing with a large knife in the driveway before he tripped and fell, causing the blade to pierce his chest are being investigated, but police say nothing is being ruled out.
His cousin took to social media to pay tribute to the young man, saying didn’t want to accept that he was “no longer here”.
“That I can’t call you or see you at family events is already hurting so much,” she wrote.
“You’ve left a hole in my heart that will never go away.
“Please just come home I don’t want you to be gone, life’s so cruel.
“Will never forget all the times and memories I’ll hold onto tucked away in my heart and your beautiful mum i promise we will be there for her forever cuz.”
Paramedics and police were called and took the teen to hospital, but he could not be revived.
A crime scene was quickly established with those at the gathering cooperating fully with police.
Detective Acting Inspector Ian Griffin said the knife would be “forensically examined” but at this stage, there was no cause for community concern.
“It’s a terrible set of circumstances but there’s certainly nothin gin our investigation that should concern the community, and we will continue to try to find out what has occurred,” Inspector Griffin said.
“It’s too early to speculate at this time, but our eyes are open to all possibilities.”
His aunt also posted a tribute to the teen on social media, saying she missed his “beautiful face”.
“Please look after and watch your mum to give her strength to move on. You will always hold a special place in my heart,” she wrote.
“I loved you more than life. My heart hurts. Love you forever aunty.”
Another aunt wrote “Rest in peace Bails, I know Nanny will look after you”.
Friends have also taken to Facebook to pay tribute to the 18-year-old.
One wrote: “RIP Bailey love you brother and see u (sic) on the other side”.
Another wrote “He was taken too soon”.
