A woman has died more than two weeks after her bed was engulfed in flames in her Sydney home.
A woman has died following a house fire in suburban Sydney after her bedroom was engulfed in flames.
Emergency services rushed to the Montgomery Street home at Miranda, in Sydney’s south, about 1am on Friday May 19 where they found a woman suffering burns after a small fire in her bedroom.
Firefighters found the mattress and bedding to be smouldering and quickly put out the fire.
The 64-year-old woman was treated for burns before she was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition.
Police were informed the woman died on Saturday, after more than two weeks in hospital.
Minor damage was contained to the woman’s bedroom.
Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident, but it is not being treated as suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
