A 27-year-old man is dead after a Parramatta house fire
A 27-year-old has died overnight after a fire overwhelmed his apartment in Sydney’s west.
A 27-year-old man has died in hospital just hours after a fire started in his Parramatta apartment overnight.
Just before 2.45am, emergency services were called to a unit on Campbell Street following reports of a fire.
On arrival, officers found a third-floor unit well alight.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 27-year-old man before he was taken to Westmead hospital in a critical condition.
A 20-year-old man was also treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and was taken to Westmead hospital in a stable condition.
The units on lower floors were evacuated as Fire and Rescue NSW officers extinguished the blaze.
Just after 5am, the 27-year-old man died in hospital.
An investigation into the incident is underway and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
