SHE did not yet have a name but the littlest Kiwi was already in the history books when New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern gave birth to a healthy baby yesterday.
SHE did not yet have a name but the littlest Kiwi was already in the history books when New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern gave birth to a healthy baby girl yesterday.
Ms Ardern is the first elected world leader to take maternity leave and only the second — after Pakistan’s Benazir Bhutto 28 years ago — to have a child while in office.
“Welcome to our village, wee one,” the 37-year-old posted on social media last night, having been driven to Auckland Hospital yesterday morning by partner Clarke Gayford.
The baby was born at 4.45pm (local time) weighing 3.31kg and both mother and child were doing well, Ms Ardern’s office said.
