Moama shooting leaves two people dead

THE bodies of a man and woman have been found with gunshot wounds next to an abandoned vehicle at Moama on the Victoria/NSW border.

A MAN and woman have been killed in a shooting at Moama on the Victoria/NSW border.

Rural ambulance officers made the grisly discovery after being called to a car crash on Old Deniliquin Road just before 9.30am.

Paramedics discovered two bodies next to a vehicle, a spokesman told news.com.au.

Police from Deniliquin Local Area Command located the bodies of the man and a woman near a vehicle on the side of the road.

Deniliquin police local area command crime manager, Inspector Peter Hayes, who is the officer in charge of the inquiry, confirmed to the Riverine Herald a man and woman had been fatally shot.

A property on Old Deniliquin Road has been cordoned off and the road has been blocked off as police investigate the suspicious shooting.

Local witnesses reported seeing an abandoned car in the area.

Police from Deniliquin Local Area Command, with the assistance of detectives from State Crime Commands Homicide Squad, are investigating and urging anyone with information to come forward.
