Last week Mr Frydenberg took aim at Mr Abbott for ramping up his negative comments about the Prime Minister after the release of the government’s 30th consecutive Newspoll loss to Labor.

But former Abbott chief of staff turned Sky News Peta Credlin commentator said Mr Frydenberg’s comments had “diminished” him in the eyes of conservatives.
“I think it probably diminished Josh in the eyes of conservatives, it certainly wouldn’t have helped him with the base,” Ms Credlin said.
Today, the Energy Minister dismissed the whole exchange, telling Miranda Devine on her online radio show Miranda Live he stood behind his comments.
