A MAN was hit and trapped under a train in central Sydney this afternoon.

A MAN has been hit and trapped under a train in central Sydney.

The man, aged in his 50s, was hit by the train about 3.30pm at Wynyard railway station. When police arrived, he was trapped under the train.

According to initial inquiries by the police, the man had a medical episode that caused him to fall onto the tracks.

He was treated by paramedics for serious injuries to his foot, before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital.

Train times may be affected for a short period while police conduct inquiries at the scene.

A crime scene was established at the location and inquiries into the matter are continuing.
