A 10-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a horror car smash that killed one driver and left another seriously injured.

A man believed to be in his 40s has died while his 10-year-old male passenger is in a critical condition in hospital after a horror crash in Sydney’s north west on Monday afternoon.

Another man, believed to be in his 20s, was also taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The crash occurred shortly before 3:50pm on Castlereagh Road in suburban Agnes Banks.

Police say the older man was driving a Holden Commodore when it collided with a Nissan ute towing a trailer.

The road was closed in both directions while officers established a crime scene to determine the cause of the collision.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact police immediately.
