Elderly woman allegedly assaulted in Sydney home by man posing as helper
Police are looking to speak to a man after an elderly woman was allegedly assaulted in Sydney by a man offering to help her with groceries.
Police are searching for information after an elderly woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man pretending to be a good Samaritan at her western Sydney home.
The 83-year-old woman had finished her shopping at Charles Mance Reserve in Merrylands about 12.30pm Tuesday when an unknown man offered to help her take her trolley home.
By the time they both reached the woman’s house, the man forced himself inside, police said.
There, he allegedly sexually assaulted the woman before fleeing the scene and taking her house keys with him.
The woman called emergency services about 5.40pm that day, where she reported the sexual assault.
She was taken to hospital for assessment as police established a crime scene and began inquiries.
An investigation with the State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad was commenced, and images of a man police want to speak to about the alleged assault have been released.
He is described as being of fair skin, with dark hair and a slight beard. He was wearing a black shirt with white panels, dark blue pants, and white shoes.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
