JUST as the ground was starting to dry out, NSW is in for another soaking today as the Bureau of Meteorology warns of heavy rain and thunderstorms that could bring flash flooding to some parts of the state.
The Bureau issued the warning for the Sydney Metropolitan, Hunter and Illawarra regions which also warned of the possibility of damaging winds gusting up to 90km/h.
Wollongong and the Illawarra are expected to cop the brunt of a low pressure system making its way up the coast, but the effects will be felt all the way up the coast to Seal Rocks.
The winds will also bring dangerous surf conditions and the Bureau warns against people swimming, rock fishing or surfing.
It will also mean a damp start to proceedings for Vivid, down in Circular Quay and around the Harbour, and out in Chatswood.
And South Sydney Rabbitohs and Parramatta Eels would be advised to take appropriate clothing to their games out at ANZ Stadium tonight.
Temperatures in Sydney are expected to reach a maximum of 18 degrees today with Penrith and Liverpool each topping out at 16.
Saturday morning sport is in doubt across Sydney with the rain likely to stick around tomorrow morning but it should ease on Sunday.
Sydney can expect a top of 17 tomorrow and 19 on Sunday.
