Woman allegedly more than four times the limit crashes into unmarked cop car
A Lake Macquarie woman has been charged with high-range drink driving after a concerning episode involving a police car.
A woman who allegedly smashed into a parked, unmarked police car while driving with a blood-alcohol level four times the legal limit has been charged on the NSW mid-north coast.
A male senior constable had pulled into the breakdown lane on the Pacific Highway at Belmont at about 5.15pm on Wednesday.
A 42-year-old woman driving a Ford Focus heading north veered into the breakdown lane a short time later and crashed into the rear of the stationary police car.
The police officer requested assistance before extra police, as well as emergency services, attended the scene. The male police officer and the 42-year-old woman were breath tested on the side of the road.
The woman allegedly returned a positive breath test before she was arrested.
The woman, from Marks Point, was taken to Belmont police station, where she was again breath tested.
She allegedly returned a reading of 0.214 – more than four times the legal limit.
The woman was charged with high-range drink driving and was issued a court attendance notice to appear at Belmont Local Court on February 3. Her licence was suspended.
