Wentworthville death: Man accused of murdering his wife Sabah Hafiz
The husband of a Sydney woman who police will allege was bashed to death has been charged with her murder.
The husband of a woman found dead inside a western Sydney unit has been charged with murder.
Sabah Hafiz, 23, was allegedly brutally bashed before her body was found inside the property on Lane St, Wentworthville, in the early hours of Wednesday morning after a concerned neighbour phoned authorities.
She shared the home with her 24-year-old husband Adam Cureton.
Police launched a widescale search for Mr Cureton on Wednesday and held serious concerns for his welfare.
He was arrested in Maroubra about 11am Thursday and taken to the local police station where he was questioned about his wife’s death before being transported to hospital under police guard.
Officers also seized a wallet, clothing and a mobile phone from the home.
He has since been charged with murder and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Friday.
Earlier Detective Acting Superintendent Simon Glasser told reporters Ms Hafiz was assaulted but it was uncertain whether a weapon was used.
“It is a tragic outcome — we are taking it extremely seriously and we have established a strike force to investigate the circumstances of this murder,” he said.
