Teen arrested over police pursuit, crashing car into school
A 15-year-old boy allegedly fleeing police has crashed head-on into a Sydney school as students were preparing to be collected by parents. He has been charged.
A teenager who fled from police after a routine traffic stop drove a Honda Odyssey head-first into a Sydney school as students were preparing for pick-up.
Officers from Sydney’s west attempted to pull the 15-year-old boy over at West Ryde shortly after 2.30pm today.
The young driver refused to stop and a police pursuit followed in the direction of Eastwood. Shortly before 2.50pm — just before school finished up for the day — the vehicle the teen was driving crashed through a school fence.
The driver ran from the scene and into Eastwood Public School, which was forced into lockdown.
Ryde Police Area Command, with the assistance of police choppers and the dog unit searched the area and tracked down the teen soon after at Eastwood Railway Station.
He was uninjured and taken to Ryde Police Station.
The vehicle the teen was driving sustained significant damage and is likely a write-off.
No-one was injured during the incident.

When the boy was searched, police allegedly located the key to another stolen vehicle.
He was charged with take and drive conveyance (x2) without consent of owner, goods in custody, driver never licensed, and dishonestly obtain property by deception.
The fraud offence allegedly occurred on Wednesday 21 November 2018.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at a Children’s Court on Monday 17 December 2018.
Information suggest two other males were in the car at the time and inquiries continue to identify and locate those males.
