Sydney rapper on the run with suspected links to major organised crime family
NSW Police are hunting two men including a prominent rapper with alleged links to a major organised crime family.
Police are on the hunt for two men including a prominent Sydney rapper with alleged links to the notorious Alameddine crime family.
Masood Zakaria, 26, and Ali Younes, 24, are wanted over their involvement in organised criminal activity including public acts of violence.
Younes is also known by his rapper name Ay Huncho, under which he has racked up more than one million views online.
Police say the pair may be trying to flee the nation and are appealing for public assistance to find them.
Younes’ high-profile lawyer Abdul Saddik subsequently told media his client was not on the run and would be handing himself in to police on Thursday.
The manhunt follows extensive raids on Wednesday morning, with police charging two people and seizing more than $500,000 cash plus firearms and illicit drugs.
The raids are part of a larger effort to dismantle organised criminal networks across Sydney’s southwest that have recently seen escalating levels of violence including public shootings and murders.
Masood Zakaria is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 180cm tall, obese build, with brown eyes, black hair and a beard.
Ali Younes is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 180cm tall, large build, with brown eyes, black hair and is possibly unshaven.
