Sydney man threatened to harm police horses: cops

Police say they have found the man commenting on social media about last month’s anti-lockdown protest and his desire to ‘harm police horses’.

A Sydney man who allegedly threatened to harm police horses in the wake of last month’s violent anti-lockdown protests has been charged.

Strike Force Seasoned, which NSW Police formed to investigate people who attended last month’s mass protests, found comments the man had allegedly posted on the website of a media outlet.

They say the man “referenced the protest and outlined threats to harm police horses”.

The 65-year-old was arrested at a Paddington address at noon on Wednesday.

A short time later, a search warrant was carried out at a nearby house, where police seized electronic devices, a computer and mobile phones, which will undergo forensic examination.

The man was charged with four counts of use carriage service to menace, harass, offend. He was refused bail and will appear at Central Local Court on Thursday.

Last month 33-year-old Kristian Pulkownik was arrested after he was photographed allegedly punching a horse during the “Rally for Freedom” protest. Among his charges was committing an act of cruelty upon an animal. He claimed in court on Wednesday that he acted in self-defence.

Another protester, Diogo Coelho, was charged with committing an act of cruelty upon an animal, among other offences, for allegedly “pushing a police horse in the face” during the same rally.

All three men are now before the courts.
