Revesby shooting: Cops question whether Lametta Fadlallah’s romantic dealings led to her death
With reported links to Sydney’s criminal underbelly, police have zeroed in on one key theory around the murder of two women on Saturday.
Questions have been raised over Lametta Fadlallah’s romantic history, after the mum-of-two was killed in the back seat of a friend’s 4WD alongside her friend and hairdresser, Amneh al-Hazouri, known to friends as Amy Hazouri.
Whether an ill-fated relationship contributed to the circumstances of her murder will be a key line of questioning for police, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Police have also confirmed Ms Fadlallah had “past relationships with other known identities”. Publicly, she was previously married to murdered drug dealer and standover man, Helal Safi and former gangster Shadi Derbas.
On Saturday night, Ms Fadlallah, 48, and Ms Hazouri, 39 were shot in the southwest Sydney suburb of Panania, in an attack that has been called a “planned murder” by police.
“It’s unacceptable by any standards. It’s unprecedented, really. And we are determined to get the answers for the family,” he told reporters on Monday.
A 20-year-old male driver and 16-year-old were also in the car at the time of the attack, however neither were physically injured.
Police confirmed the pair were “devastated” and “incredibly shaken”, however they were assisting authorities with the investigation.
Prior to their death, Ms Fadlallah and Ms Hazouri were on their way to an engagement party being held at Massaya – a Lebanese restaurant in Strathfield South that’s owned by the sons of her boyfriend, Adel Dayoub.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the restaurant’s owner, Dayoub Jr., said the family were shocked by the events of that night.
He said his father had been dating Ms Fadlallah for around 12 months and is assisting police with their investigation.
“We don’t know anything, we were just getting to know her over the last year,” Mr Dayoub Jr. said.
“She was very nice. My dad is in shock. He is not alright, he’s grieving.”
Hairdresser’s last phone call with mother
Harrowing details have also been revealed about Ms Hazouri’s final day, before she became an innocent bystander in the gang hit.
Speaking to the ABC, her mum, Elham Meliji revealed the last phone call she had with her daughter on Saturday morning. At the time they were planning Ms Hazouri’s overseas trip, which would see her reunite with her family for the first time since 2016.
“In the morning I was on a call with her. She told me, ‘Mama I’m with a client, let me finish dying her hair’,” said Ms Meliji.
“She told me, ‘I’ll finish the client and call you.’ I told her, ‘Darling, I have the day off today so I want to talk to sort out the Lebanon travel plan’.”
The family are currently raising funds via GoFundMe, in order to transport her body from Sydney to Lebanon. As it stands, the campaign has raised more than $16,000.
