Two arrested at Olympic Park in relation to murder of gangland crime boss Barbaro
BREAKING: POLICE have swooped on two men in a series of Sydney raids thought to relate to a spate of gangland murders including that of underworld figure Pasquale Barbaro.
AT least two men have been arrested at Sydney’s Olympic Park as part of city-wide raids thought to relate to the murder of mafia Pasquale Barbaro.
Footage from the scene shows a heavy armed police presence and a man in handcuffs and a white t-shirt slumped on the ground against a wall.
The raids were reportedly related to Sydney’s recent gangland warfare, after Barbaro was shot dead in an execution-style killing in a suburban Sydney street on Monday 14 November.
The slain crime boss was allegedly concealing a million-dollar debt, having “ripped off” rival gangsters before his death in Earlwood.
A spokeswoman for NSW Police told news.com.au: “A police operation is underway involving multiple search warrants across Sydney. As the operation is ongoing, no further information is available at this time.”
Members of the Tactical Response Unit working with Strike Force Osprey — set up to investigate eight shootings including that of Barbaro — moved in on four or five targets, the Daily Telegraph reported.
