Police investigating stabbing of a health worker outside inner west Sydney hospital

A WOMAN has been arrested and is being questioned by police after allegedly stabbing a female health worker in Sydney today.

A FEMALE community health worker has been stabbed in the neck outside a McDonald’s cafe in Sydney’s inner west today.

Another woman, a 46-year-old who police said was known to the victim, has been arrested and is being questioned by officers.

Emergency services were called to a McDonalds Cafe known as The Corner in Missenden Road after reports a 34-year-old woman was stabbed in the neck about 11.30am.

She was treated at the scene before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where she is expected to undergo surgery.

Officers from Redfern Police Area Command attended and arrested the woman.

She was taken to Newtown Police Station and is helping police with inquiries.

Police are speaking with witnesses and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

They said the pair were known to each other.
