Police hunt criminal syndicate over Abdallah’s family home break-in
NSW Police have released CCTV as they attempt to crack a criminal syndicate who is believed to have broken into the family home of Danny and Leila Abdallah.
Police have released CCTV footage as they attempt to crack an alleged criminal syndicate accused of breaking into the home of the grieving Abdallah family earlier this year.
Police were called to the Telopea family home of Danny and Leila Abdallah in northwestern Sydney on April 28 after a male intruder was found inside.
Danny and Leila Abdallah lost three children, Antony, 13, Angelina, 12, and Sienna Abdallah, 8, when a drunk driver ploughed his car into their group as they walked to get ice cream at Oatlands in February 2020.
Their niece Veronique Sakr, 11, was also killed.
Ms Abdallah has said she was at home with a 40-year-old female friend when she saw the man leaving via the front door before he fled the scene in a stolen white Audi driven by an accomplice.
“I was sitting on my kitchen bench trying to send pictures of my kids to someone and they just walked in,” Ms Abdallah told The Daily Telegraph at the time.
“I saw someone briefly leaving my house and he had a black bag on him.
“Then I went upstairs and rang the police straight away. They took my bag, our jewellery, one of my children’s phones — but the biggest thing is, they took memories.”
A short time later, police were called to another home at nearby Dundas after another attempted theft was reported.
Police said a 35-year-old man had parked his car in a driveway, and when he returned he saw an unknown man getting out of the driver’s seat.
When he was confronted, the man made an escape in the same white Audi.
The same car was connected to a break-in at Oatlands early the next morning during which personal items including credit cards were stolen.
CCTV at a Mount Druitt shopping centre released by NSW Police on Monday shows the car driving into a parking lot before a man attempted to use the credit card to withdraw money from an ATM.
Police say the three incidents are linked and have released images of a man they want to speak to.
“The man depicted in the CCTV is described as being about 183cm tall, aged between 20-25, with a skinny build and dark hair,” NSW Police said.
“He was wearing a black baseball cap, black track pants and a blue hooded jumper with a hi-vis yellow vest.”
