NSW Police release images of peeping Tom stalking teen girl
Chilling footage of a peeping Tom creeping around outside a young girl’s bedroom window has been released by police.
Police have released chilling footage of a man peeping through the bedroom window of a teenage Sydney girl in the hope the public can help identify him.
Surveillance cameras captured the man lurking outside the girl’s home at Collaroy Plateau in the city’s northern beaches last Friday.
Police said the 13-year-old was in her bedroom when she noticed a man looking through the window just after 10.30pm.
She alerted her parents who searched the backyard but failed to find any trace of the intruder and called police.
Officers canvassed the area and also found nothing but a check of the home’s CCTV system revealed images of a man creeping around the property, a police spokesman said.
Police were told a similar incident had occurred on the evening of Thursday, October 4 when a man peeped through a bedroom window. On that occasion, the family did not call police.
Northern beaches crime manager, Detective Inspector Michael Boutouridis, said the case was being taken very seriously.
“Families have the right to feel safe in their own homes but incidents such as these can be extremely distressing, especially when children are involved,” Det Insp Boutouridis said.
“We’ve spoken to the family involved, we’ve canvassed the neighbourhood and have collated information, but we need help from the community to identify this person.”
The suspect was described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander or Pacific Islander in appearance, aged between 25 and 35, with a medium to large build and short dark hair.
In the surveillance footage, he appears to be wearing a light-coloured T-shirt, long pants, white trainers and a black watch.
