NSW Police hunt for gunman after shots fired at car with baby inside

A gunman is wanted by police after allegedly shooting at a car with a four-month-old baby inside.

Police are appealing for information about a gunman who allegedly shot at a car in Sydney’s southwest while a baby was inside.

NSW police were called to Welch Ave in Greenacre after police received reports gunshots had been heard in the area about 3pm on December 28, 2022.

It’s alleged officers found bullet holes in the car as well as empty bullet casings and damage to a fence.

Detectives allege three shots were fired at a black Mazda 3 during an illegal transaction.

Police allege a four-month-old baby was in the car at the time of the shooting.

The armed man is believed to have fled the scene in a black Toyota Camry before getting into a grey Hyundai Veloster on Highview St towards Bankstown.

Police believe there were two women and four men involved in the incident, and it could be linked to organised criminal networks.
