A man has been charged with murder after a body was found in a sleeping bag by a couple taking their dog for a morning walk.

A man has been charged with murder after a body was found in a sleeping bag by a couple taking their dog for a morning walk on the NSW north coast.

The body of the man, 56, who is believed to have been sleeping rough, was found on November 22 at Jack Evans Boat Harbour Park in Tweed Heads.

NSW Police on Tuesday arrested a 34-year-old man after he got off a bus in Wharf Street, Tweed Heads.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with murder. The man has been refused bail to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court on Wednesday.
