Navy officer assaulted at train station on Anzac Day
A NAVY officer in full uniform returning from an Anzac Day service was punched after he asked a group of men to stop drinking alcohol on a train.
A NAVY officer has been left bloodied following an Anzac Day assault at a train station in Sydney’s southwest.
The 24-year-old, who was in full uniform, was returning home from the Anzac Day memorial service about 2.45pm when he approached a group of men who were drinking alcohol and harassing commuters.
After approaching the group and asking that they stop drinking and curb their behaviour, the officer was punched in the nose by one of the men as he left the train at Glenfield.
Police are looking for a man they believe may be able to assist with inquiries. He has been described as Caucasian in appearance, about 160cm tall with a large build and brown, thinning hair.
A police investigation is underway.
