Manhunt after gun fired during jewellery robbery at Sydney shopping centre
A man is on the run after an armed robbery in which shots were fired in a violent attack at a Sydney shopping centre.
A man has been arrested and another is on the run after an armed robbery at a shopping centre in Sydney’s west.
Officers rushed to a jewellery store inside Carnes Hill Marketplace shopping centre on Kurrajong Rd after reports of an armed robbery at 4:45pm.
Two men entered the store, smashing glass cabinet displays, before a shot was fired and the men fled the scene, police say.

The officers were directed towards a motorcycle outside the centre, where they found two men.
They apprehended and arrested a male pillion passenger, however the motorbike rider fled the scene.
Police seized a firearm and various items of jewellery in a search of the man.
A large-scale manhunt is now underway, with specialist police and officers from neighbouring areas assisting.
Police helicopters are in the area in a desperate search for the man.
There is no ongoing threat to public safety, police say.
