Man with no license busted ‘drink driving twice in three hours’

A man whose license expired more than two decades ago has allegedly been caught breaking the law twice within less than three hours.

A NSW man whose licence expired more than 20 years ago has been charged after he allegedly drove while drunk twice in less than three hours.

At about 12pm on Thursday, police responded to a single car crash on Burley Griffin Way at Harden where the driver of a Nissan Navara utility, 50, crashed into a drain.

While he wasn’t injured, he allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.129 and police checks found his licence had expired in December 1998.

The man was issued a future court attendance notice and released from police custody.

After a number of driving complaints were received for the Olympic Highway, north of Cootamundra, patrols found the same man in his car in a rural driveway at about 2.30pm.

He allegedly returned a positive roadside test a second time, blowing 0.211.

The Gogeldrie man was charged with drive with high range PCA and never licensed person drive vehicle on road.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Cootamundra Local Court in March.
