Man shot dead by police after Sydney train station stabbing
A man has been shot dead by police after stabbing another man at a Sydney train station before threatening officers with a knife.
A man has been shot dead by police overnight after he threatened officers with a knife at a western Sydney police station.
NSW Police said a critical incident investigation was underway after the man attended Auburn Police Station about 12.08am on Tuesday and made threats against officers.
Officers then shot the man, police said.
First aid was performed while paramedics arrived and the man died a short time later at Westmead Hospital.
It is believed the man was involved in the stabbing of another man, 28, at Auburn train station about five minutes before he went to the police station.
Neither man was known to each other, police said.
The younger man is in hospital in a stable condition.
“A critical incident team comprised of officers from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the discharge of a police firearm,” NSW police said in a statement.
“That investigation will be subject to independent review.”
