Motorists stopped to check on Houllis’ wellbeing, but were misled into believing he was intoxicated and being looked after by the two attackers.

Houllis died in hospital three days later.

Hamdach had bought a pair of earphones from Mr Houllis the day before the attack and, believing they were not genuine, arranged for Mr Houllis to meet and sell another pair, which ultimately led to the fatal attack.

Karaali is scheduled to return to the NSW Supreme Court on March 31, while Hamdach is also due to be sentenced for his involvement in the murder on the same day.
