Man fighting for life after allegedly targeted stabbing in western Sydney

One man is fighting for his life and another man is in police custody after a stabbing in western Sydney on Sunday afternoon.

A man is in police custody over an alleged targeted stabbing in Sydney’s west on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to Sheffield Street at Merrylands around 3.30pm after a 31-year-old man was stabbed.

The man was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition and is fighting for his life.

Police launched an investigation and cordoned off parts of the street.

“It’s believed the stabbing was targeted,” NSW Police said in a statement.

On Sunday afternoon, police arrested a 30-year-old man at a nearby home.

On Sunday evening he was being interviewed by detectives at Granville Police Station.
