It’s been revealed that police attended the unit of a woman for a disturbance hours before she was found dead inside.

Dayna Isaac, 28, was found dead inside a unit on Colless St in Penrith on Monday afternoon, and her car was later found burned out in bushland 13km away near Castlereagh.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Ms Isaac after he was arrested by police in the early hours of Tuesday morning at a Robinson Rd home in Cranebrook.

He has been refused bail and will front court tomorrow.

Neighbours had called police after hearing a disturbance at the property on the afternoon of the incident, with officers attending the scene, according to Superindentent Carlene Mahoney.

“Police were informed there was a disturbance at the premises, and they did attend,” she said.

“They later identified that the deceased was on the premises.”

A relative of the arrested man later found her dead inside, but Superindentent Mahoney did not reveal why she attended the property or how she was able to get inside.

Police allege the pair had been friends for a long time and recently started a romantic relationship.

A friend of Ms Isaac’s family, Hayley Chandler, has set up a GoFundMe page for the family and shared a touching tribute.

“On the 16th of January 2023, our beautiful Dayna was taken way too soon,” Ms Chandler wrote.

“Dayna was the life of the party and a friend to everyone. She leaves behind 4 beautiful kids who will miss her dearly.

“As you can understand this is a difficult time for her friends and family. We are asking for donations to help give Dayna the send off she truly deserves and to help with the costs of raising her children she’s left behind.”

Other tributes have poured in for the young mother, who has been remembered as a “beautiful girl”.

“I’m still in complete and utter shock. Such a beautiful soul taken way too soon. Rest in paradise,” one loved one shared online.

“No way. You were such a wonderful person. Every time I seen you. You would always have a smile on your face,” another said.

Superintendent Mahoney told reporters the 32-year-old, who was known to the victim, was also known to police.

“At this stage, it’s under investigation. Obviously, you know, we’re still processing the crime scene,” Superintendent Mahoney said.

“We are aware that there was a relationship between the two.

“It was a long relationship as a friendship and recently became more intimate over the last couple of months and that’s as far as we’re aware, but we don’t have any other reports of any domestic violence beforehand.”

She revealed the person who reported the deceased woman to police was a family relative of the arrested man and had attended a police station to report the matter rather than calling triple-0.

“The person that did report to us was a relative of the person of interest, and once she became aware of that she came straight to the police and reported what she was informed of,” Superintendent Mahoney said.
