Man arrested after another man was found dead in a Sydney home

A man has been found dead at a home in Sydney’s inner west, with police taking another man into custody following the incident.

A man has been taken into custody after another man was found dead at a home in Sydney’s inner west this afternoon.

Police were called to a home on Nicholson Street in Balmain East just before 4pm following reports of a concern for welfare.

When officers arrived they found the body of a 62-year-old man in the house.

Another man, aged 40, was arrested and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital under police guard with lacerations.

It is understood the men were known to each other.

A neighbour told the Inner West Courier the victim was carried out on a stretcher “covered in blood”.

Police have been unable to confirm early reports the victim was stabbed.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are ongoing.
