Major update in fatal stabbing of Sitaleki Filihiahekava

There’s been a major update after a rugby league player was allegedly fatally stabbed outside a restaurant on a Sydney street.

A Sydney rapper has been charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed a man outside a fast food restaurant in Sydney’s inner-west.

Sitaleki Filihiahekava, 32, was stabbed to death outside Guzman y Gomez on Marrickville Road in Marrickville about 7.40pm on Monday.

Police on Wednesday evening arrested Jacob Tammer-Spence before the 31-year-old was charged with murder.

Mr Tammer-Spence, who raps under the name Snoee Badman, was arrested at Concord before being taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged.

His lawyer did not make an application for bail when he made a brief appearance at Burwood Local Court on Thursday.

Emergency services raced to the scene outside Guzman Y Gomez on Monday night and Mr Filihiahekava could not be resuscitated despite efforts to save his life.

Mr Tammer-Spence will reappear in court on November 20.

NSW Police Acting Superintendent Ben Kennis earlier confirmed the attack wasn’t random.

“It was too early to say if they arranged it … It was clear they did know each other,” Superintendent Kennis said on Tuesday.

Flowers and tributes were seen outside the Guzman Y Gomez on Wednesday.

“Forever grateful for all those nights when I was sleeping on Jordan’s couch and thought I had nothing left but you showed me how much I had to live for,” one heartbreaking note read.

A man from Mr Filihiahekava’s rugby league club earlier posted a touching tribute on social media.

“Leki was a well liked and respected integral member of our A reserve grade premiership team two weeks ago where he performed admirably,” the tribute read.

“To the extensive Filihiahekava family and Leki’s multitude of friends we express our deepest sympathy.

“RIP Leki, your happy, friendly personality will be greatly missed.”
