Images released of man after woman allegedly assaulted and stabbed in Sydney’s inner west
Police would like to speak to a man after a woman was allegedly assaulted and stabbed in the ribs by a stranger in Sydney’s inner west.
Police have released images of a man they would like to speak to after a woman was allegedly approached by someone she didn’t know in Sydney’s inner west and stabbed.
NSW Police said a woman, 38, was out with her friends on Friday night in Bedford St, Newtown when she was “confronted” by a stranger.
“The man began to argue with the woman before assaulting her several times and stabbing her in the ribs,” police said in a statement today.
The woman went to Newtown police station and was taken to the nearby Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment. She has since been released.
Police today released images of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
He is described as being of Pacific Islander or Maori appearance, about 175cm tall, aged in his early 20s and with an athletic build.
The alleged assault and stabbing occurred at about 6pm, police said.
