A woman in her 30s is dead and her husband is believed to have fled Sydney’s Upper North Shore bound for China — and taken the couple’s children with him.

The woman, believed to be a Chinese national in her mid-to-late 30s, was found inside a unit on Bobbin Head Road at Pymble, 20km north of the Sydney CBD.

Officers forced their way into the premises about 10am today after they were contacted by members of the public who were concerned for her welfare.

The official statement from police is light on detail, however a spokesman told news.com.au police believe the woman’s husband is responsible and that he has fled to China.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports the woman’s body was found inside a freezer.

A crime scene has been established and forensic officers are still at the scene. Pictures show paramedics leaving the block of units earlier today, followed by Forensic Services personnel carrying evidence bags.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and are working with the federal police to determine the whereabouts of the woman’s family.

A post mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
