The owner of a restaurant in regional NSW has suffered facial injuries after a QR code request allegedly triggered a violent brawl.

A couple is accused of allegedly attacking a restaurant owner on the NSW mid-north coast after they were asked to check in to the venue using a QR code.

Security footage captured the moment things allegedly turned violent after the couple were told to leave the Forster eatery.

It is alleged they refused to check in at the Anatolia Turkish Cuisine restaurant.

Police said the duo arrived at the venue on Wharf St just after 7pm on Monday and were asked to sign in using a QR code.

When they refused, they were told to leave, before the man allegedly picked up a bottle of water and threw it against a wall, smashing it.

He was escorted from the restaurant before allegedly punching the 39-year-old owner.

The woman then bit a 44-year-old customer who tried to intervene, which caused his bicep to bleed and bruise, police will allege.

The restaurant owner suffered facial injuries and a suspected broken nose. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said the couple left the venue and were arrested a short time later.

The 34-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, intimidation and malicious damage.

The 27-year-old woman was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both were slapped with $1000 fines for breaching Covid-19 protocols.

They were granted conditional bail and will front Forster Local Court next month.
