Five arrested by NSW Police over Bankstown stabbing
Shortly after a raucous brawl broke out at a Sydney venue, a man turned up at Bankstown Hospital with a stab wound, police say.
Five people have been arrested following a stabbing in Sydney’s south west overnight.
Four men and one woman were taken into police custody after a man was seriously stabbed at a licensed premises in Bankstown.
Emergency services were called to the venue on Chapel Street at around 1am after a brawl broke out between two large groups, NSW Police said.
Two men working at the venue suffered minor lacerations as they tried to break up the crowd, according to police.
Some people involved allegedly fled the scene.
Shortly after, a man with a stab wound presented at Bankstown Hospital in a serious but stable condition and went into surgery.
A crime scene has been established and the five arrested are assisting police with investigations.
