Condell Park tobacconist: Teenager’s alleged armed robbery foiled
The moment a teenager’s alleged plan to rob a store with a knife was foiled after quick-thinking staff locked him inside has been captured on video.
A teenage boy found himself in a bit of a pickle after an alleged attempt to rob a store in Sydney’s west took a surprising turn.
Police will allege the teen pulled out a knife before threatening staff and demanding cash at a tobacco shop on Simmat Ave, Condell Park, on Wednesday.
But it will be alleged that quick-thinking employees and a customer foiled the boy’s plans by running outside the store and locking the 16-year-old inside until officers arrived.
Video shows the boy pacing around with his balaclava on as a large group of people watch outside.
At one point in the video the boy in the video flips the bird at onlookers.
After police arrived the teen was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
He was refused bail and will appear at a children’s court on Thursday.
