Charges laid after man found in NSW bushland with gunshots to both legs

The man was found in bushland after being shot in both legs, with police later charging two people.

Charges have been laid after a man was found in bushland near Newcastle with gunshots to both of his legs.

Officers were called to O’Donnelltown Rd in West Wallsend about 5.30pm on Thursday following reports of a shooting.

A man was found in bushland after he was shot in both legs.

The man was treated by paramedics on the scene before he was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

Police were told the man met a 26-year-old man known to him at the location; however, the 26-year-old fled before police arrived.

A 23-year-old man and a 33-year-old man were arrested at Seaham Street in Holmesville shortly afterwards.

They were both taken to Belmont Police Station and questioned before being released.

The 26-year-old later attended Toronto Police Station about 7.15pm with a 48-year-old woman.

The man and woman were both arrested, with the 26-year-old charged with discharge firearm etc. intend cause grievous bodily harm and possess loaded firearm public place.

The 48-year-old was charged with being an accessory after the fact to discharge firearm etc. intend cause grievous bodily harm.

Both the man and woman were refused bail.

They are set to front the Toronto Local Court on Friday.
Police urge anyone with information to come forward.
