Police are asking for help in identifying a man who has been donning a mask and cape and terrorising businesses in NSW’s Central West.
An investigation was launched following two break-ins and an armed robbery at businesses in Orange between June and July this year.
Each of the three incidents occurred during the early hours of the morning and police believe they are all linked to a masked man who was caught on CCTV wearing a black cape.
At about 5.15am on June 29 a caped man forced his way through the front door of a licenced premises in Bloomfield.
CCTV footage caught the man attempting to steal a machine from the reception area before he gave up and fled the scene without it.
The caped man was caught on camera again on July 13 between 2.45am and 5.30am breaking into a business on Peisley St in Orange.
He was filmed attempting to open an ATM for about an hour before once again giving up and leaving empty-handed.
A few days later on July 20 a man wearing a cape and a face covering threatened and tied up an employee at a hotel on Bathurst Rd, Orange.
He was wielding a hunting knife and rifle as he ordered the victim into a separate room.
The man then attempted to open an ATM and poker machines.
He was last seen jumping a fence beside the hotel carpark, which backs onto the railway line, and walking off down the rail corridor.
Police have released CCTV footage of the offender and are asking for help in identifying the man.
Anyone with information about these incidents is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
