Boy, 16, allegedly stabbed as group storms Sydney home
Police have charged two teenagers after a group allegedly broke into a Sydney home and left a boy with stab wounds.
A horrific incident has unfolded in Sydney — in which a teenage boy was allegedly stabbed when eight masked boys stormed a house.
A woman was heard yelling about police “incompetence” at the scene of the incident which took place in the city’s inner west on Wednesday night.
Police said the group wearing face coverings forced their way into the home on Frazer St, Marrickville about 5pm on Wednesday evening.
It is believed the group allegedly jumped over a back fence before a 16-year-old boy challenged them.
The group fled before emergency service arrived and allegedly left the 16-year-old suffering several stab wounds. His injuries were not life-threatening.
Two detectives arrived at the home on Thursday morning but the residents did not answer the door.
Police were seen on Wednesday night searching through a park across from the house and later arrested two 15-year-old boys nearby.
The first boy was charged with affray, entering enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, custody of knife in public place and participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.
The second boy was charged with affray, entering enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
Both boys were granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on May 12.
Locals on Frazer St said Wednesday afternoon life there was typically uneventful but it was not the first time police had visited the home.
One man who was dropping his child at a nearby daycare said he was shocked that the incident took place so close by.
He said he has seen “some troubles” at the home before.
A neighbour said life in Frazer St was usually pretty quiet and the “only flashing lights we see is an ambulance” there for elderly residents.
Another said they had “seen police before” at the house that was allegedly broken into.
A woman was heard yelling at the police while the boy was being treated by paramedics on Wednesday, according to another neighbour.
She was “screaming about police incompetence” they told news.com.au.
