Bonnyrigg Heights shooting: Adam Saliba, 33, charged with attempted murder
A man is due to face court today after being charged with shooting another man in the face during an argument in Sydney’s southwest.
A man will appear in court charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting another man in the face in Sydney’s southwest last month.
Adam Saliba, 33, was arrested on Wednesday after a strike force investigation into a shooting in Bonnyrigg Heights on June 15.
Police will allege in court the man fire several gunshots during an argument in Middlehope St about 12.30pm, with one shot striking a 45-year-old in the face.
Fairfield detectives were called to the scene soon after the incident and established Strike Force Wardry to investigate.
Three days later on June 18, the 45-year-old man attended hospital suffering a facial wound consistent with a gunshot.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested Saliba at a home in Bonnyrigg Heights just before 7am on Wednesday.
He was taken to Fairfield police station and charged with shooting with intent to murder, discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possessing a loaded firearm in a public place, firing a firearm in or near a public place, possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm, using an unauthorised prohibited firearm, possessing ammunition without a permit, acquiring a prohibited firearm, acquiring prohibited ammunition and possessing a prohibited drug.
Saliba was refused bail to appear before Fairfield Local Court today.
He made no application for bail when he briefly appeared in court, and his matter was adjourned to September 9.
