Baby girl critical after father charged with allegedly causing her serious injuries
A father has been charged over allegedly causing serious brain, neck and rib injuries to his four-week-old girl.
A father will face court today charged over allegedly causing serious injuries to a baby in Sydney’s southwest.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad started investigating after a four-week-old girl presented at Liverpool Hospital suffering seizures on November 8.
Officers were told by doctors the girl had suffered serious brain, neck, and rib injuries.
The baby was transferred to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead where she remains in a critical but stable condition.
Following inquiries detectives arrested a 25-year-old man at Parramatta Police Station on Tuesday. He was charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm.
Police will allege the child had been assaulted by the man at a home in Sydney’s southwest.
He was refused bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.
