ACT Police search for teen over alleged assault of young boy

Police are searching for a teenager who allegedly assaulted a five-year-old boy at a playground while riding on a motorised bike.

Police are searching for a teenager riding on a motorised bike who allegedly assaulted a five-year-old boy at a suburban park.

The alleged assault occurred while a family was visiting Monash Park Playground, near Charleston Street, in Canberra between 4.30pm and 5pm on August 25.

Police will allege the teenager was riding erratically on his bike in the local drains and parklands.

The teen allegedly rode his motorised bike towards the playground and assaulted the five-year-old boy before fleeing the scene.

The young boy was seriously injured and taken hospital by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics.

The teenager was allegedly riding a black and white mountain bike with ‘whipper snipper’ style engine fitted under the seat.

Police are seeking witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have information about any teenager’s identity.
