An 18-year old man has lost his license less than 24 hours after it was issued to him for a wild alleged hoon.
The young Karabar P-plater fronted the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday for allegedly riding a motorcycle at 180km/h in a 90km/h speed zone.
“About 5.45am today (Wednesday) police observed the man overtaking a vehicle as he entered onto the Monaro Highway from Hindmarsh Drive,” the ACT Police said.
“He continued to accelerate, reaching a speed of 182km/hr.
“When he was stopped by police it was found the rider had held his NSW provisional licence for less than 24 hours.
“The man’s right to ride and drive in the ACT was immediately suspended and his motorcycle was seized.”
The police have charged the man with driving dangerously at speed, exceeding speed of 45km/h and riding an unsafely maintained vehicle.
