A 15-year-old girl has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of 39-year-old mother-of-two Kristie McBride.

Reports of a brawl at an address on Wegit Way in Warrawong, near Wollongong in NSW, were received by emergency services about 6.30pm Wednesday November 22.

Ms McBride was found by attending officers at the scene to have suffered stab wounds, believed to have been sustained while trying to break up a fight.

She was rushed to Wollongong Hospital in a critical condition where she died 10 days after the alleged attack.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Ms McBride’s family.

Subsequent investigations led police to charge seven people in relation to the incident.

Six of those charged are juveniles, and all remain before the courts.

Three teenage girls aged 13, 14, and 15 were arrested near the scene of the stabbing a short time after.

They were charged with offences including affray, while another 15-year-old was arrested the following day.

A week later, NSW Police revealed a woman, 37, and two 17-year-old girls had also been charged with affray after handing themselves into police on November 29.

One of the 15-year-old girls has now been charged with an additional offence of murder and remains in custody.

She is next due to appear at a children’s court on Tuesday December 12.

Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
