A SYDNEY tradesman has been handed a jail sentence for stealing explicit photos from women’s phones when he was connecting their homes to the NBN.

But Aydin Agar will get to serve his 16-month term in the community by way of an intensive correction order, a magistrate ruled in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Monday.

The 25-year-old sent himself more than 80 naked images and a video from four women’s phones in 2017 after telling them he needed to access their devices to connect them to Wi-Fi.

Agar pleaded guilty to stealing the intimate images in November.

At the time, Nine News reported that he would send the private pictures he found to himself before erasing any trace of the messages being sent.

He was only caught when one of the victims noticed images on her phone had been opened.

Mannon White was one of the women who let Agar into her home. She told the Nine he abused a position of trust.

“They were private, explicitly sensitive images that you wouldn’t share with absolutely anyone except for with a partner or someone you extremely trust,” she said outside court.

She and other women decoded to speak out to warn others who might fall victim to similar scams.

Magistrate Jennifer Atkinson told the court the impact on the victims had been substantial and the offending was near the worst it could be.
