Taekwondo instructor accused of shocking triple murder to weigh up charges
A taekwondo instructor is accused of killing a couple and a child during a horrific triple murder earlier this year.
A taekwondo instructor accused of a triple murder in Sydney’s west will in the coming weeks weigh up police allegations against him.
Kwang Kyung Yoo, 50, was earlier this year charged with the murders of Min Cho, 41, and a seven-year-old child at North Parramatta, as well as the woman’s husband, Steven Cho, 39, at a Baulkham Hills unit block.
It’s alleged that Ms Cho and the child were in February murdered inside a taekwondo studio where the boy was a student.
Police allege that Mr Yoo, who was known to his students as Master Lion, left the bodies inside the studio before driving Ms Cho’s white BMW to her Baulkham Hills house, where Mr Cho was stabbed several times.
The North Kellyville man has been in custody on remand since his arrest in hospital in February and he has not yet entered a plea.
In Parramatta Local Court on Thursday, the court was told that a case conference would be held on October 21.
The purpose of a case conference is to help determine an accused person’s plea and to identify any disputed facts.
As well, it can result in plea offers being made by either side.
NSW Police found Mr Cho’s body at the Watkins Rd, Baulkham Hills home before the bodies of his wife and the child were discovered by police two hours later.
Police allege that Mr Yoo drove to Westmead Hospital with stab wounds to his chest, arms and stomach and claimed he was randomly attacked in a supermarket carpark.
Police allege he sustained the injuries while stabbing Mr Cho to death.
The matter will return to count in late October.
