Son of NRL great Wendell Sailor set to learn legal fate
The son of dual international Wendell Sailor has fronted court for the first time since being charged with assault and fraud offences.
The son of dual international Wendell Sailor will enter pleas to domestic violence and fraud offences in a fortnight.
Jackson Watson, 23, fronted Sutherland Local Court for the first time on Wednesday after he was last week arrested in Sydney’s south following an investigation into allegations made by a 24-year-old woman in August.
Mr Watson, the love child of Broncos and Wallabies great Sailor, has been charged with common assault (DV), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical or mental harm and make false documents to obtain financial advantage.
He was granted conditional bail and briefly appeared before magistrate Joy Boulos on Wednesday.
Mr Watson represented himself in court and asked for an adjournment to seek legal advice.
He was told by Ms Boulos that he would be required to enter a plea when he next appeared on November 3.
The 23-year-old was himself a talented footballer who represented an Australian representative Indigenous side in his teens, alongside his half-brother Tristan Sailor
NSW Police said in a statement police began an investigation on August 30 after a woman made a “report alleging she had been assaulted and defrauded by a man known to her”.
“Following inquiries, about 4.20pm on Friday 15 October 2021, police attended a unit on The Kingsway at Caringbah, where they arrested a 23-year-old man,” police said.
“He was taken to Kogarah police station, where he was charged with common assault (DV), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm and make false document to obtain financial advantage.”
