A man who was duped out of nearly half a million dollars by a woman he met on a ‘Sugar Daddy’ dating website has shared fake invoices and intimate text messages exchanged with her in the hope others won’t fall for similar fraud.

The 47-year-old Sydney man was the main victim of convicted fraudster Siriluck Fatima Chimmalee, who was jailed on Wednesday for swindling hundreds of thousands of dollars off men on online dating platforms.

He cannot be named for legal reasons.

Speaking through tears, the man said Chimmalee destroyed his life after he met the 27-year old Thai national on the Secret Benefits website.

The court earlier heard Chimmalee had convinced her sugar daddy, who wrote on the site he earned $200-$250k a year and had a net worth of $10 million, to invest $437,000 in a fake investment opportunity relating to the trading of luxury handbags.

The man fell for the trick and the promise they could make enough money off the investment for him to become a stay-at-home dad, and after eight months of a “relationship” he gave her $13,000 to buy an engagement ring he never saw.

“The consequential trauma that I have experienced, the mere fact that I’m left with financial debts for what is likely to be the remainder of my life, has left me devastated,” the man said.

“(I fell) in love with someone capable of building a dream life but only to discover the heartbreak that I am a victim of a scammer that has deceitfully stolen my future in the cruellest possible way”.

Chimmalee was jailed for four years and two months, with a non-parole period of two years and 10 months, for two counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception. She had pleaded guilty to both charges.

Now, the man has sent news.com.au a copy of the fake receipt Chimmalee sent him, which purports to show the purchase of a $334,660 handbag. The man, who had already sent Chimmalee hundreds of thousands of dollars, believed his sugar baby could resell the hand bag for a significantly higher amount.

The “invoice” looks clearly doctored, with a map of the world seen inside the barcode.

News.com.au has seen an email chain with NSW police which confirm the man sent the same photo to them as part of the fraud investigation.

Alarm bells rang upon receiving the invoice from Chimmalee, the man said.

Soon enough, police officers visited his workplace — to the confusion of his colleagues and his embarrassment — and confirmed the heartbreaking truth he had been suspecting.

“Looking back, there were red flags earlier on that I should’ve seen,” he told news.com.au.

“I already had to select my earnings on the website, but she started asking things she didn’t need to know like what assets I have and other details about my finances.”

The victim also showed intimate text message exchanges with Chimmalee to news.com.au, one which went:

Chimmalee: Miss you

Man: Yes, I understand *heart and kiss emoji*

Chimmalee: Baby don’t forget to send me the details for the credit card please. Thanks *prey hands emoji*

While the victim said he’ll never use a sugar daddy website again, he said he’s “sure many who use them people develop loving relationships that are honest”.

But he warned there are people on there with the wrong intentions, and urged men to consider what they’re being asked and whether it goes beyond the standard expectation of buying lavish dinners and gifts in exchange for company.

“When money is involved in the beginning, it can be hard to see when it becomes something more deceitful,” he said.

“For me, it was a gut-wrenching experience that I’ll pay for the rest of my life. I just hope others are more careful”.
