A SCHOOLGIRL’S horrific ordeal was revealed in photographs on a father-of-three’s mobile phone after his wife handed it to police, it was alleged yesterday.
Troy Stephen Johnson, 31, allegedly wore a “gillie” camouflage suit when he grabbed the 12-year-old girl as she walked to school and bound, gagged and raped her.
The NBN tradesman refused to appear in Wyong Court yesterday where he was also facing charges of indecently assaulting another 11-year-old girl known to him.
He did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to reappear today on 13 charges, including aggravated sexual assault of someone under 16 and performing an aggravated act of indecency on a person under 16.
Police will allege the 12-year-old girl was walking to school on May 15 when she looked over her shoulder and saw a man wearing camouflage clothing emerge from bushes. He was holding a large stick and grabbed her in a headlock and forced her into bushland next to the pathway, according to court documents.
Johnson then allegedly tied her to a tree and used cable ties to bind her hands and put duct tape over her mouth before he removed her clothes.
He allegedly forced the girl to perform a sex act on him for five to 10 minutes after showing her a video to teach her how to.
Johnson then took photos of his young victim before letting her get dressed and he walked out of the bushland with her.
He was questioned by police in June after another girl, aged 11, allegedly told them he had been abusing her since October last year.
He allegedly exposed himself to her several times between October and April this year including in a car, a swimming pool and even while his wife was in the shower, according to court documents.
On one occasion, Johnson is alleged to have offered the 11-year-old $100 to perform a sex act on him.
The day after the 11-year-old spoke to police, Johnson’s wife handed one of his two mobile phones to detectives.
Police allege they searched Johnson’s Woongarrah home and found a “rape kit” included hunting knives, camouflage clothing, cable ties and other items.
On the mobile phones, there were photographs of the 12-year-old girl’s ordeal as well as aerial images of a high school, the Narrara area, and child pornography, the court was told.
Following his arrest on Friday, Johnson, a diabetic, allegedly tried to kill himself with an insulin overdose. When paramedics warned him he would die, he allegedly told them: “That’s what I want to do.”
The case was adjourned to today at Gosford Local Court when he may apply for bail.
