The on-off boyfriend of late Sydney woman Samah Baker has been convicted of the 30-year-old’s murder.

James Hachem, from Hurstville Grove, south of Sydney, was found guilty of killing Ms Baker by a New South Wales Supreme Court jury on Tuesday, according to AAP.

The 36-year-old, who has persistently denied any connection to his lover’s January 4, 2019, death, is set to be sentenced at a later date.

The jury was told he murdered her in her Parramatta home after seeing her kiss another man.

He then texted her phone in an attempt to cover his tracks, writing: “Last night was so good, slept like a baby.”

“You must be with your boyfriend and you can’t text. All good,” he wrote.

During the more than two month-long trial, the court heard Hachem drove to McDonald’s and went for a job interview while Ms Baker’s body was in the boot of his car.

Later, pings from his phone were received over the course of more three hours in Breadalbane, near Goulburn, where police suspected Ms Baker’s body was dumped.

The body of Ms Baker, a TAFE worker, has never been found.

She had known Hachem for 15 years and, according the Crown, had an “intermittent intimate relationship” with him.

He was alleged by the prosecutor of being the last person to see Ms Baker alive and the only explanation was she was dead and he was responsible for her death.

In closing, Defence barrister Daniel McMahon argued suicide could not be ruled out.

Ms Baker was reported missing by relatives on January 5 after her friend dropped her at her Parramatta home early in the morning the day before.
